The Oregon State Legislature passed House Bill 4007 increasing the Housing Alliance Tax (HAT) from its current $20 to $60 for an increase of $40 to most recording fees. This will take effect Monday, June 4, 2018.
The current fee for recording a single sided one page document is currently $42. This will increase to $82. An updated “Recording Standards & Fee Schedule” willbe available on the county website http://www.klamathcounty.org/478/Recordings on Friday, June 1, 2018.
The most commonly recorded documents this will affect are: Deed, Death Certificate, Power of Attorney, Agreement, Trust Deed, Mortgage, Reconveyance, Notice of Default, Affidavit, Assignment, Lien, Sheriff Certificate of Sale, Lien Release, Construction Lien and Home Owners Association Lien.
