Cheryl Hukill
Cheryl Hukill is a graduate of Coquille High School. After graduation she spent 1 year at Cascade College in Portland and one year at Canadian Bible College.
With her husband Ron, she moved to Klamath Falls, Oregon in 1969. She is the mother of 3 children who were born and raised in Klamath County, and 6 grandchildren.
She was co-owner of Hukill’s Ready Rooter and Repair Inc. which began in 1970. They owned and operated the business until 2004 when their son Ryan, bought the business.
She was secretary for the Klamath County Republican Women’s group for 2 years; then served as President for 3 years. She was an executive board member of the Klamath County Republican Central Committee from 2004-2008. One of her accomplishments was overseeing the creation of “Oregon’s Vote by Mail” handbook for Precinct Committee Person’s. This was adopted by the local Central Committee and then by the Oregon Republican Party, as the official manual for all Central Committee Precinct people.
The Military Affairs Committee is very important to her. Helping in the relationship between our community and the Kingsley Air National Guard, is one of her priorities. Both Ron and Cheryl are “Honorary Commanders” of the Strategic Readiness Squadron at Kingsley. No matter the day or hour, she is at the airport, welcoming or sending off troops to help keep America safe.
As a member of the Oregon Association of Counties Public Safety Board, Cheryl looks forward to seeing our law enforcement continue to serve the citizens, not only in the State, but here in Klamath County. She is also a board member of the National Association of Counties Public Safety Committee.
She has been appointed to the State Community Corrections Commission. The purpose of this commission is to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of state and local community corrections activities by providing a forum for statewide policy development and planning. This is in addition to the AOC Public Safety Committee, National Association of Counties Public Safety Committee, NRAC, The Oregon Consortium, Regional Workforce Investment Board, TEAM Klamath-Medical Committee, Tourism, and Veteran’s Advisory Board.
Her CAT (Citizen Action Team) responsibilities include Crescent/Gilchrist and Crescent Lake Junction.
Cheryl oversees: Emergency Services, Public Health, Mental Health, Veterans, Juvenile, Information Technology, Treasurer, and District Attorney as her liaison responsibilities. She is a member of several committees that impact Klamath County, such as The Oregon Consortium, Advisory Board for the Senior Citizen Center, Natural Resource Advisory Committee, Ambulance Advisory Board, Regional Workforce Investment Board, and the Klamath County Fire Defense Board.
