Programs

The Commission on Children and Families partners with local agencies to provide programs that impact the goals and strategies of the Klamath County Comprehensive Plan.

Healthy Start This program is a home visiting program offered to first time moms. Families are offered short term assistance or more intensive family support services through the early childhood years if needed.

Project Changes Project Changes promotes a healthier, safer community for Klamath County youth and families through education, intervention, treatment and alcohol, tobacco and other drug free activities.

Kids in the Middle Kids in the Middle is a mentoring program that serves non-delinquent youth in the 4th through 8th grades that are referred by school counselors.

Stop the Hurt Coalition
Kim Estes 541-883-5117 Stop the Hurt The Klamath County Stop The Hurt Coalition leads a community-wide collaboration to prevent child abuse and neglect through awareness, advocacy and education. Goals are achieved throught a multi-media public awareness campaign.
Klamath Falls City Schools
Jill Linebarger 541-883-5117 Safe Schools /Healthy Students Klamath County was awarded a grant to support the development of community-wide approaches to creating safe and drug-free schools and promoting healthy childhood development. The commission provides free parenting classes in support of this grant.

Youth Development Network The YDN strives to bring together youth services in order to reach a larger population. By sharing trainings, resources, concerns, solutions, and support, the YDN’s goal is to enhance the vision and mission f every youth serving program within Klamath County. In its third year, this 65+ member network meets monthly and communicates on a regular basis. All youth serving agencies/programs are encouraged to attend lunch meetings on the third Wednesday September – June of each year.

Klamath County Mentoring Coalition

the Klamath County Mentoring Coalition is funded by the Regional Action Initiative through the Oregon Community Foundation and the Klamath Commission on Children & Families.  This is a three-year grant with these goals for youth serving agencies within Klamath County: (1) to identify mentoring organization leaders and convene on a regular basis, (2) to leverage resources to address needs and implement strategies to maximize resources, (3) to conduct three events or activities per year, (4) to help make connections and share with other counties, (5) to facilitate the registration of youth serving organizations on the R U Ready to volunteer database directory, an online tool that serves Southern Oregon, including Klamath County.  www.ready2volunteer.org
