Ed Caleb was appointed by Governor Atiyeh in 1985. He has served as a close advisor to on prison overcrowding and law enforcement issues. He continues to lead the fight for tougher laws and longer sentences for Oregon criminals. Favors the initiative process to require Oregon legislators to provide adequate level of public safety.
"I believe in vigorous prosecution of those people who violate Oregon law. In the past, the strength of those laws has been weakened by the failure to provide adequate prison space and criminal sentences to protect Oregon's people. Ballot Measure 11 gave the District Attorneys the tools necessary to address problems of violent crime and repeat property offenses."
"The Klamath County District Attorney's Office has consistently provided cost effective services for our citizens; we work to prioritize violent crimes, crimes against children and drug crimes. It's been my policy as District Attorney to keep the public informed about law enforcement issues. I ask for your continuing support in an effort to strengthen Oregon laws and to make our streets safe again."
