Klamath County Mental Health

Foster Care

Foster Homes and Short-
Term Respite Care offer
hope, safety and security
when it's needed the most.

More people with mental
illness are falling through
the cracks due to a lack
of appropriate housing
than for any other reason.
Next to the right medication,
safe housing is the number
one necessity for persons
with brain disorders.

Klamath County Mental Health provides a variety of community based living situations for eligible persons with mental illness.

ADULT FOSTER CARE services are provided in community homes with 5 or fewer residents. Foster homes provide room and board, medication management, supervision of daily living activities and other services appropriate to the treatment plan for the individual resident. Long term services are available.

SEMI-INDEPENDENT LIVING services are available in two different facilities, Harvest House and Union Station. Residents of Harvest house live independently but with the assistance of an on-call case manager. Union Station consists of two duplexes and a case manager to help tenants manage their medications and cope with times of crisis. Both facilities provide an opportunity for mentally ill adults to achieve increased independence in secure housing. These important services provide a way to break the all too common cycle of homelessness and evictions.

Both Adult Foster Care and Semi-independent living programs are coordinated by our Community Support Staff.
