Volunteer Opportunities
Klamath County Emergency Management has many volunteer opportunities to help our community. Below are groups within Emergency Management where people can volunteer regardless of training or skill level. All of our volunteer opportunities begin with a volunteer application.
CERT - Community Emergency Response Team
Klamath County CERT is an emergency response team that helps our community in a variety of ways. Recently our CERT team has been activated to assist Red Cross with shelter operations for wildfires, assist fire agencies on large incidents, assist recovery teams after disasters, assist with traffic management for parades and help coordinate relief efforts for those affected by dry domestic wells. ARES - Amateur Radio Emergency Service
Klamath County ARES helps maintain critical communications with other City, County, State, and Federal partners in case of a disaster. These systems are designed to be used with traditional communications systems are disabled or overloaded during a disaster and allows our county the capability to update partners of relief needs as well as providing a coordinating capability for nearby counties that may experience disaster to assist them with communicating their needs. Emergency Management Volunteer
Volunteers directly with Klamath County Emergency Management perform a variety of tasks. In some cases they can be called upon to help us coordinate response in a disaster, fill a variety of office administrative roles, assist with public outreach events, assist with community and emergency services training, as well as any number of other needs that advance the effort to help our community mitigate, prepare for, respond to, or recover from disasters.
