On November 23, 2022 Klamath County acquired real property known as Spence Mountain. The property was acquired with grant funding received from multiple donors to include State and Federal dollars. A requirement to receive State and Federal funding included adopting and implementing a Forest Management Plan. In addition, the Commissioners desire to further develop and maintain a trail system on the mountain.
The Spence Mountain Mountain Maintenance Advisory Committee will be comprised of 7 members; a Klamath Tribal member, a representative from "Trails/Recreation", a County representative, a representative from "Industry", representative from "Agriculture", and two at large citizens. The committee will advise the Commissioners on future development and maintenance of the trail system as well as implementing the Forest Management Plan.
