/DocumentCenter/View/35437/Minutes_2023Klamath County was first declared a Weed Control District on April 27, 1929 and listed 7 noxious weeds. Then again on February 9, 1938 the Weed Control District was declared with a new list of 10 noxious weeds. It wasn’t until around 1988 that the Weed Control District began being declared annually and a Weed Control Advisory Committee was formed. Today we maintain an active Weed Control Program and Weed Control Advisory Committee and have 50 “A”, “B”, or “C” listed noxious weeds. The role of the Weed Control Advisory Committee is to give advice in controlling, destroying, preventing and identifying noxious weeds in Klamath County. Noxious weeds pose an increasing threat to native ecosystems, croplands, and other plant communities throughout Klamath County and the role of this committee is to help prevent extensive weed infestations. Each year the Weed Control Advisory Committee recommends a list of noxious weeds for Klamath County to be approved by the Klamath County Board of County Commissioners.
